http://isb.wa.gov/tools/pmframework/index.aspx

This site provides valuable tools and tips for ensuring successful Portfolio Investments.
Brought to you by Department of Information Services (DIS), the Customer Advisory Board, and several contributing state agencies, the framework is intended to:
  • Simplify and facilitate Information Technology managers' access to the best project management approaches, tools, and samples
  • Promote the usage of best practices for project management for all projects, both simple and complex
  • Increase the level of assured competence project managers bring to project management endeavors
  • Establish a commonality of process and standardization of terminology within IT project management in state government

The framework fulfills the function of a virtual project management office for Washington state.

It allows project managers to review a checklist of best practice items and choose those that are appropriate for their type of project.

Structured in a manner that is similar to the Core Systems Framework and ATOM, it is based on project life cycles, and developed in an iterative process.

The Web site will remain dynamic, with tools and examples being added indefinitely.

You can find an outline of the framework's structure by clicking on the Project Management Cycles Phases in the beige box in the upper right hand corner of this page.

Each element of the respective phases contains general information on that particular best practice and how to use it.

A link to one or more examples will show you samples of each element, and a separate link takes you to templates and a checklist for ascertaining that the element has been developed correctly.
